Privacy Policy for BabySleep

This privacy policy governs your use of the software application "BabySleep" (the "Application"), an iOS app that helps caregivers settle infants (0–12 months) using a curated, mixable library of soothing sounds, created by dreamcraft.io (the "Developer").

BabySleep is submitted to the App Store under the Health & Fitness category and is intended for caregivers (parents, guardians, family members). It is not a Kids-Category app and is not intended to be used directly by a child.

BabySleep is built around a privacy-first foundation: the free Lite tier and the one-time Pro tier run fully offline. The optional Pro AI subscription is the only tier that uses any network features, and every network feature it offers requires an explicit, in-app user opt-in.

The Three Tiers and What They Do

Lite (free): sound mixer, sleep timer, saved presets. Fully offline. No microphone access, no network access, no data collection.
Pro (one-time in-app purchase): everything in Lite, plus on-device cry detection and adaptive soothe. The microphone is used only on-device by Apple's SoundAnalysis framework / a CoreML classifier. Audio is processed in-memory and discarded immediately. Audio buffers are never written to disk and never transmitted off the device.
Pro AI (subscription, 7-day free trial): everything in Pro, plus a Claude-backed sleep coach chat and generative lullabies. These features require a network connection and only run when you explicitly use them.

What Data the Application Collects

Lite and Pro tiers do not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal information or any data from your device. All settings, saved presets, sleep timer state, and entitlement flags are stored locally on the device using Apple's standard on-device storage (UserDefaults and SwiftData). Nothing is ever sent to the Developer or to any third party.

The Pro AI tier sends data over the network only when you actively use one of its network-bound features, and only to the extent described in the "Pro AI Network Features" section below.

No Tracking, No Advertising

In every tier, the Application does not:

Collect or ask for personally identifiable information (such as your name, email address, photo, location, or contacts).
Use Apple's IDFA or the App Tracking Transparency framework to track you. There are no advertising SDKs and no attribution SDKs embedded in the Application.
Display third-party advertising of any kind.
Track your activity across other apps or websites.
Sell or share any data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Require, request, or support account creation or sign-in. The Application has no user accounts.

Microphone Access (Pro Tier — Cry Detection)

When you enable cry detection in the Pro tier, the Application requests microphone permission through the standard iOS prompt. Audio captured from the microphone is processed entirely on your device by Apple's SoundAnalysis framework or a bundled CoreML classifier to estimate whether a baby cry is present.

Audio buffers are never persisted to disk and never sent to any server, including ours. The only state that leaves the audio pipeline is a transient classification result (e.g., "cry detected"), which is consumed locally to trigger soothing playback. You can turn cry detection off at any time in Settings, and you can revoke microphone permission at any time from iOS Settings.

Pro AI Network Features (Optional, Opt-In)

The Pro AI subscription adds two features that require a network connection. Both are off by default and only activate when you choose to use them:

Sleep coach chat (Anthropic Claude): messages you send in the chat are forwarded through a thin Cloudflare Worker proxy operated by the Developer to Anthropic's Claude API in order to generate a response. The proxy attaches an API key, applies basic abuse limits, and otherwise forwards the request to Anthropic. The proxy does not store the contents of your messages, and the Developer does not retain a copy of your conversation. Messages are subject to Anthropic's privacy policy while they are in transit and being processed by Anthropic.
Generative lullabies: a short prompt describing the lullaby you want is sent to the same proxy and on to Anthropic to produce a soothing audio sequence. The same retention rules apply: the proxy does not store the prompt, and we do not retain a copy.

You can turn either feature off at any time in Settings. When the features are off, no data is sent over the network. Pro AI is the only tier that ever transmits user-generated content off the device.

Optional, Opt-In Diagnostics (TelemetryDeck)

If — and only if — you turn on "Help improve BabySleep" in Settings, the Application sends a small set of anonymous, aggregated usage signals (such as which screen was opened or whether a preset was saved) to TelemetryDeck. These signals do not include the contents of your mixes, your microphone, your messages, your IP address, your IDFA, or any other personally identifiable information. Diagnostics are off by default; you can turn them off at any time, and the Application will continue to function normally with no degradation.

In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

The Application offers optional in-app purchases through Apple's App Store using Apple's StoreKit 2 framework, including a one-time Pro upgrade and a Pro AI subscription with a 7-day free trial. All payment transactions are handled exclusively by Apple and are subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. The Developer does not receive, process, or store any payment information.

The only data the Application receives from StoreKit is the confirmation of a completed, restored, or active purchase or subscription. This information is used solely to unlock the corresponding tier locally on the device and is never transmitted off the device by the Developer.

Children's Privacy

BabySleep is intended for caregivers (adults). It is not intended to be used directly by a child, it is not submitted to the Apple Kids Category, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including from any child whose caregiver may be using the Application. Because the Application does not collect personal information at all in the Lite and Pro tiers, and only transmits user-typed content in the Pro AI tier when the user actively chooses to do so, the Application is designed to comply with applicable children's privacy regulations including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / GDPR-K).

Audio Safety

BabySleep is designed in line with the American Academy of Pediatrics' 2023 guidance on infant noise exposure: estimated SPL is capped at 50 dB at the baby's ear, the Application recommends placing the device at least 7 feet (200 cm) from the crib, and a sleep timer fades and stops playback automatically. The master output is hard-clamped at −14 dBFS in the audio engine itself; this safety limit cannot be raised from the user interface. BabySleep is a caregiver tool and is not a medical device. If you have concerns about your baby's sleep or hearing, please consult a pediatrician.

Data Retention and Deletion

Because the Lite and Pro tiers store all data locally on the device, there is nothing for the Developer to retain or delete on your behalf for those tiers. Pro AI messages and prompts are not retained by the Developer and are not retained by our Cloudflare Worker proxy beyond the lifetime of the request.

To remove all data created by the Application, you may delete the Application from your device. This will remove all locally stored presets, settings, entitlement flags, and purchase confirmations from that device.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. Changes are effective immediately after they are posted.
